Why Dental Fissure Sealants are Important
Each person’s teeth are unique. Some teeth have deeper or finer grooves that are harder to keep clean. These grooves can trap plaque and then become prone to stain and decay.
Dental sealants are a preventative dental treatment that seals these grooves to reduce the risk of decay.
Not just for kids, dental sealants are appropriate for any age or life stage.
What Happens During Dental Fissure Sealants?
Dental sealants are a painless in-chair dental treatment and are often done as part of your regular maintenance appointment.
Our dentist starts by thoroughly cleaning the teeth to be sealed, removing any stains and cleaning to the base of the groove. They then fill the grooves with tooth coloured resin before the resin is hardened with a special blue light.
Your dental sealant should last for a number of years and will be reapplied if damaged.
